Trisha Moore Sculptural Artist

I am a sculptor based in Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland. I received my sculpture degree from WWSOTA in West Wales.

I feel that sculpture should be explored not just looked at; that the viewer should surround the piece and be surrounded by it. I want to create the need to experience the piece from different vantage points and to perceive the space around the form; either physically or visually. For this reason I’m interested in where planes meet and separate and how a piece becomes a different sculpture when viewed from different perspectives... It is not just a 360 degree sculpture but 360 different sculptures in one piece.

I am also interested in how repetition transforms a unit. Building a piece by repeating a basic form can create surprising results. The work can become very organic or structured depending on how you construct it. I find it intriguing that the same basic starting point can lead you to very different end products.

This in turn makes me think of processes and how a process or system acts on, constrains or manipulates a material, object or person. The outcome being dependent not on solely on the initial material, object or person but also on what process they go through.

Which brings me back to my initial desire to have my work bring the viewer through a process of visual and physical exploration. The effect of this on them being a very subjective experience.
